This restaurant stinks. The minute we walked inside the smell of cat piss hits you in the face. The nasty waitress/manager with an attitude told us we were too late for the breakfast buffet and we had to order from the menu. Fat chance of that happening. My guess is that we would have been served leftover buffet food. And really, who wants to eat in a place that stinks and looks condemned? We walked out and drove down the road to Mammy's. It smelled great there and the food tasted good. Oh, and the waitress was very attentive.

Upon arrival, could smell onions in the parking lot so I was hopeful. Upon entry, it's smelled horrible. Table was gross; the napkin dispenser was greasy, the salt & pepper shakers gross, the ketchup bottle was well-handled. At 1pm, the buffet looked dangerous. I wished I had a thermometer to check the temps of the items. Waitress suffered from short-term memory loss. Brought my child a choc milk on accident; out of courtesy, we accepted it instead of the soda he ordered. Then charged me $3 for the choc milk.

This place is a nightmare. Smelled of mildew, looked dusty and dirty. The buffet was completely inedible. I couldn't even swallow the first bite I took. The biscuits were hard and the "gravy" tastes like dog food. The dessert bar was already set up at breakfast but blocked off until lunch. Who knows how long they actually sat out. A newborn baby was set up in a swing on a table in the side room completely unattended. The staff is horribly rude with no knowledge as to how people should be treated, especially ones paying for their disgusting food. It's unimaginable as to how this place is still open.

Can you give minus stars? I WISH I had read the reviews before going in. Even the food bought at the store (mainly deserts) were gross or void of taste.

Absolutely disgusting. The food was flavorless. I asked the waitress about freshness of the seafood, she told me all of myrtle beaches seafood was frozen and shipped in from Louisiana. This place is a joke. Avoid unless you want bad food.

The food is nasty! Coffee is horrible! Spent $85 to feed 5 adults & 3 kids. You'd think they could spring for some lights bulbs! Every light fixture had at least 2 bulbs burnt out. Most Ceiling fans were missing the shroud, just a bulb. And Grandma, if Ur going to charge $3 for Fruit Loops, don't serve generic Fruity Hoops. Just tells me how cheap you are and makes me wonder what else you skimped on!!!

This is probably the worst restaurant that I have been to. I'm not sure the eggs are even real, and the coffee tasted like it was made with toilet water. Avoid this place!!

This restaurant should not get the privilege of one star. We went to Grandma's Kitchen for the breakfast buffet the first Sunday in August 2010. When we walked in there were plenty of tables to seat 4 adults and 5 kids but instead the hostess/cashier had us wait for 10-15 minutes so she could compute some miraculous seating arrangement in her hand before she decided to seat us. We eventually had to seat ourselves and she didn't even walk us to the table. We should have walked out by this point but I had told my friends that this place had such a great breakfast. When we finally sat down, the waitress actually made us move down a seat because the ceiling was leaking. I did not look up until after I had gotten my plate of food and the ceiling was indeed leaking and molded. I did not go back for seconds. My cousin then told me she went to get food and liquid from the ceiling got in her food and drink. We got the bill and I was surprised that even though I only had 2 adults, 2 children on my bill, the place added an 18% gratuity because there was a total of 9 people even though 5 of those people were small children! I would not have given 18% gratuity at a buffet where all the waitress does is bring drinks and mine was not even refilled. I tried to fight this battle with the hostess/cashier to no avail. My cousin did get one meal and drink taken off her bill after complaining about dripping from the ceiling onto her food and drink. The hostess/cashier then proceeded to say she was going to call the cops on us because we informed her we were going to tell everyone we could not to come into nasty Grandma's Kitchen. We were able to warn some people and turn them away from this hepatitis waiting to happen nasty buffet joint. The place needs some serious remodeling they don't have any handsoap and expect you to wash your hands with bar soap. It is not sanitary .

My sister and I ate breakfast here on 5/19/13. She had an omelet and I had the sausage gravy and biscuits. Her omelet's eggs were only half-cooked. I had to SEARCH for the biscuits under the SEA of lukewarm gravy on my plate. The waitress only appeared to take our plates away and never inquired about how the food was. I took the bill to pay. When the cashier asked if everything was okay, I informed her that it was not. I said, "I am under the distinct impression that the cook is pi$$3d that they have to work today." I then described the above to her. She got a nasty expression on her face and asked if I told the waitress about my issues. I then informed her about the waitress keeping away. Luckily, we did not have to pay for this particular adventure!!! My advice: STAY AWAY FROM GRANDMA'S KITCHEN!

One star is too many. Run don't walk away. Greasy plates, mostly fried garbage in the buffet.

Wish we would have seen this before going. Hopefully people pay attention to these reviews. Place smelled terrible when we entered. My 12 year old said it smelled terrible lets leave. Should have listened. We had the breakfast buffet. 799 for horrible food that had been laying around for a while. For was gross place was dirty. Waitress was rude. And then they charged a 18% gratuity for bringing 1 round I drinks. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

I won't event give this place any stars because one star is way too may but I have to because Yelp insists I do. This place was probably one of the disgusting restaurants I've ever been. My family and I were driving around hungry and we chose the place by the name--big mistake. The place was filthy. We went in around 2 pm and the buffet had been laying around for HOURS! Everything was sitting in grease. The tables were sticky and the silverware was dirty. There were flies trying to escape this place. We passed on the buffet and ordered off the menu. When I asked for a Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade), the waitress (who was also the hostess and busboy), told me they didn't have any but they had iced tea and lemonade so I could choose one. I agree with the other reviewers. I guess they never fixed the hole in the ceiling because it was still leaking when I was there. Avoid this place like your life depends on it.

This is possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. When we walked in the place was practically empty. We stood by the door for about 15 minutes without seeing a waitress so we seated ourselves. We noticed the most of the tables were dirty and sticky, the floor was unvacuumed. The food on the bar looked old so we decided to order our food. We waited for a long time before the waitress came out from the back and she was very rude. After the order was placed we waited forever for our food to come out and when it did come out it was cold and tasted old. We ate absolutely nothing. When we complained to the waitress she said that she was going into the kitchen to tell "grandma " that we were dissatisfied. When she came back she said that they would not remake our food or comp it because there was nothing wrong with it. The customer service was absolutely horrible. So we ended up paying 40 dollars and no tip for a breakfast for two that we did not eat.

i don't usually write reviews but after reading all of these bad reviews i had too. i do not agree with any of you !!!!! my wife and i had lunch here at 3:00 in the afternoon and we had the buffet you would think that at that time of the day the food would be left over from lunch and not fresh. we were pleasantly surprised. the selection was great and so was the food !!! good prices and a very friendly staff. clean and nice inside dinning room. and to the person that said that the desserts were not home made you don't have a clue what home made is !!!! maybe you never had a grandma that baked i don't know but i'll guarantee you that these cakes are not store bought unless you got them from a bakery fresh made. i highly recommend you ignore these bad reviews and give this place a try !!!!!! you will not be disappointed, i hope to be lucky enough to meet grandma some day and thank her personally !!! oh and buy the way grandma is a real person and is in this kitchen cooking every morning just stop by and see for yourself. keep up the fine country cooking !!!! we will be back !!!!!!!

The only reason this gets 2 stars is because the service was great. They were so nice and checked on us multiple times. Now the bad part... When we walked in it smelled horrible. That should have been my first clue to leave. When we were walking up to the buffet the ceiling ac leaked on me, gross! The eggs were not tasty and how does anyone mess up bacon?? Well they did! The coffee was semi burnt. It was definitely not worth 7.99 a person. They actually had a sign there that said "we reserve the right to refuse service if you waste food." It's a buffet with nasty food... some got wasted!

My first trip to GK was in 93 it was a family vacation and my first trip to the beach.I loved the ambience of the place I build model kits this place had .Huge model ships and planes and a train going above the dining room the food was Great at the time.Jump ahead 11yrs I was leaving the beach with my girlfriend at the time.I remember how good the food was and decided to eat here big BIG BIGG mistake. It was dusty with cobwebs and flies flies everywhere(I seen one so big i carried out the food.lol JK)we shouldered on thought what the hell food would still be good.Wrong greasy food runny gravy hard biscuits. You name it it was there. We left when the girlfriend got sick and ran to the bathroom.I found a walgreens and bought stuff to soothe her. When we go to sparky i started to feel ill.and ran to the restroom.if finaly passed as we walked around. i would never eat there again

Horrible and overpriced. We went in with a coupon, only to be told that we couldn't use it because no one wanted crab legs (this was not mentioned anywhere on the coupon, FYI). The food was gross, and the entire restaurant felt dirty. The bathrooms were relatively clean, if one can stand the smell. The only upsides were truly the rather attentive service (potentially because we were one of 4 groups there) and the brownies were pretty good (but watch out for hairs).

In a word, grotesque. The food was horrible, the tables were sticky, and any place with "rules" on the menu should be avoided. Instant potatos, the fish was nasty, and I don't know what "back fat" is, but it was inedible. (I know, the name should have given that away but I had to try it) Our waitress was very nice but they charge an automatic 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Shortly after our visit I was afflicted with "Grandma's Revenge". Next time out we will plan better.

Should have figured with every other restaurant being packed and this one having a nearly empty parking lot that I was going into a bad place... Well, the decor was old - which I am okay with... However, the food is gross. My wife and I both ordered the breakfast buffet and it was the worst I have ever seen. The only thing I ate off of the buffet was bacon and the sausage gravy and biscuits - they looked the safest. Even though the biscuits were hard as rocks and the bacon was like leather. We left still hungry. Won't make this mistake again!
